Pylaon, Nestor’s brother lost in an unjust manner and a prince of Pylos

Nileas and Pelias, sons of Poseidon (Neptune) and Tyros, had an argument for the Kingdom of Iolkos. Then Nileas decided to go to Messene, where he founded Pylos. He married Chloris and he became the King of Pylos. Because of this marriage Chloris gave birth to a daughter, to Pero, and twelve sons, Taurus, Asterius, Pylaon, Deimachus, Eurybius, Epilaus, Phrasius, Eurymenes, Evagoras, Alastor, Nestor and Periclymenus, whom Poseidon granted the power of changing his shape. Hercules once, falling into a wild frenzy, killed Iphitus, the son of King of Oechalia, throwing him from the walls of Tiryntha. So he went to Nileas, in expiation of his murder and he asked him  to take part in this expiation. But Nileas refused to do it, because of his friendship with Iphitus’s father and he expelled Hercules. So Hercules started a war against Nileas, the King of Pylos. In accordance with another myth Hercules started the same war, because Nileas tried to steal a part of the oxen of Geryones. Nileas and eleven out of twelve sons of him took part in that war except Nestor. Even Olympian Gods took part in that famous war. Athena (Minerva) was by Hercules’s side and Poseidon (Neptune), Hera (Juno, wife of Zeus), Hades (Pluto) and Apollon were by Pylians’s side (Nileas’s side). What has to be told is the fight between Hercules and Periclymenus. Periclymenus  turned himself into a lion, a snake, and a bee, but he was recognized with the assistance of Athena (Minerva) and he was slain by Hercules with the other sons of Neleus. Even Pylaon was among the killed princes of Pylos. Nestor alone was saved, because he was brought up among the Gerenians. In the end Hercules invited Nestor to return to his home, to his palace, to Pylos and he gave him the kingship of the whole area on condition that Nestor will surrender his power, if sons of Hercules ask for it.
